When you’re ready to transform your home with a fresh coast of paint, some have the skills and time to it right… but the majority of us need to a professional and resort to hiring a painting company.
And when we say “professional”, we mean someone who has 1000’s of hours painting and know their craft.
Here are the 5 warning signs you should look out for before hiring a painting company.
1) None of your friends or family have heard of them before. Yes, it’s tempting to hire the one-man show from craigslist. But do you really want to risk having someone with no referral history or recommendations?
2)They don’t have any online reviews. Let’s face it, if they have a history in your area, you’re going to know if it’s good or bad by the number of positive reviews. Now just like any popular restaurant, don’t be to worried about a few negative reviews. Sometimes you just can’t please everyone. But you want to make sure they have at least 20 positive 5 star reviews from Google, Facebook, etc.
3) They don’t have a license or proper insurance. Check to see if your state requires a license for painting. And at the very least, you want to make sure your painter or painting company has General Liability Insurance and Worker’s Comp Insurance. Without proper insurance, you could be liable for any accidents at your home.
4) They don’t offer a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee. It needs to be very clear in your agreement that they will make sure you are 100% happy and will return for free and fix any areas of concern.
5) You don’t get more than 1 estimate from another painting company. Just like dating, you wouldn’t want to marry the first person you meet! Even if you love the first company that came out, it’s always a good idea to schedule another painting quote with another company.
